Who is Submarine Press?
Owned and operated by Allen Hui, Submarine Press is an independent book publisher based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Established in 2008 to showcase new and distinctive voices, Submarine Press published its first two photography books, Prospective Matter by Samantha Rhea Lawson and Chronomatica by Christopher Larsen, in Spring 2009 with plans to continue publishing art and photography as well as fiction, non-fiction, children's books, poetry, comic books and zines, graphic novels and anthologies.
While we are committed to preserving the printed book format, Submarine Press doesn't believe writers and artists should be limited to print publication. We can assist in publishing online through the major electronic book markets, including distribution through mobile applications.
Currently, Submarine Press is publishing mini-comics, zines, prints and related projects by popular Instagram artist Paul Gonsalves, fine art painter and illustrator Elaine Leon, and hack cartoonist Allen Hui who has a best-selling mini-comic at City Lights Bookstore called Sigmund Freud Eats A Hot Dog.
